In our most recent episode of Survival is Profit series, we discussed how Mr Zayn Puah, a Managing director from Maystar Beauty courageously leapt his business from the beauty industry into becoming a well-known face mask distributor called Neutrovis in Malaysia.
To what many assumed was going to be a tough challenge, Mr Zayn persevered through it all to eventually score a whopping 50 Million sales units of face masks in just 3 months! If you happened to miss our LIVE session yesterday, you may watch it on YouTube or Facebook via the button below.
During our Survival is Profit LIVE session on 23rd June 2021, we had the opportunity to welcome back Mr Christopher Ng, the Group CEO of PanPages Trinity to share his highly anticipated insights on the topic of discussion for the day.
We kick-started our LIVE session by directing a question to Mr Zayn Puah on how the idea of introducing face masks first came into consideration.
Mr Zayn shared that his idea to create face masks first began when the Covid-19 pandemic hit our shores early last year. He carefully observed how there was an exponential search of face masks all around the country as it gradually became essential for everyone, not just in Malaysia but on a monumental global scale as well.
The Managing director further admitted that before Neutrovis became a popular brand in Malaysia, he knew that huge risks had to be taken before he could finally see the fruits of his labour working to success.
He continued to share his success story by stating that loyal customers of his brand were always in search of Neutrovis because of its assured premium quality medical face masks that could prevent the formation of “Mask-ny”. A term they used to describe Acne formation when using an ordinary face mask.
When asked about his promotional strategies on how he could achieve 50 Million sales, Mr Zayn said that it all stems from the foundation of accessibility. This is seen from the aspect of ease of reach for the people when they buy face masks in the market. He also added that product display should be an important aspect to consider when doing ‘offline’ shopping at physical stores.
In terms of content marketing strategies, Mr Zayn said that advertising on Facebook and Google was not possible at the time due to his product being severely controlled by these online platforms. To make up for this, he capitalised on quality content via social media marketing by educating his customers on the quality of Neutrovis face masks during the pandemic.
Agreeing to his strategies was Mr Christopher Ng who also chimed in to share his personal take on other marketing strategies which he believes could work at this time. One of them being access to ‘shareability of content’. Mr Christopher stressed that this strategy is most effective because it is cost-friendly among people who have actually used a product and shared positive feedback about it among their connections.
