Early this month, our Group CEO, Christopher Ng was approached by The Edge Malaysia to share his thoughts on the company’s 12-years long partnership with the Alibaba Group. Christopher took the opportunity to walk down the memory lane and gave a short introduction on how the lasting partnership with the Chinese global e-commerce tech giant was established.
PanPages TRINITY is the first official channel partner in Malaysia and one of the leading pioneers who partnered with Alibaba.com outside of China. Prior to the transformation into PanPages TRINITY, the company was formerly known as - first, Buying Guide, then Super Pages Malaysia - a Yellow Pages type of printed directories commonly used by local small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), even before the rise of Internet and search engines. The increase in ease of internet access provided the opportunity for the company to transition the SMEs to global marketplace via e-commerce on Alibaba.com.
Through its partnership with Alibaba.com, PanPages TRINITY offered local SMEs support and access to market their products on the business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform. This enabled local businesses to sell products and to establish their brands in multiple countries.
Christopher further elaborated that the partnership with Alibaba.com was one for the two companies to leverage on each other’s strengths. Alibaba.com’s visible success in China gave the local SMEs confidence in the e-commerce platform’s ability to effectively connect buyers and sellers while PanPages TRINITY's tremendous local experience and long term relationship with a huge customer base of local businesses helped Alibaba.com to build its strong foundation in Malaysia.
